The Promotion - Trailer

Just saw The Promotion....not bad. Simple and fun. "So long you banjo fuckers!"

The Promotion: "Oscar-nominated actor, John C. Reilly (Chicago, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby) and Seann William Scott (American Pie) lend their deft comedic touch to the story of two mid-level Chicago supermarket employees - Doug and Richard, a dubious new guy from Canada - who compete ruthlessly for a coveted managerial post at a new store location. Doug and Richard could not be more different, but going head-to-head in a contest of wits and will reveals how they have more in common than they once suspected. The duo battle toward a hilarious final showdown that will leave you guessing until the very end."

The New Sigur Ros

After listening to the stream/rip of Sigur Ros' new LP, Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust, I have to say I'm pretty pleased. Being a huge SR fan gave me very high expectations...which at first were a bit underwhelmed by the first single "Gobbledigook" (only because it was so different - thankfully it has really grown on me). The next song to be "released" (via BBC radio) was "Festival" which is quite amazing. But having listened to it 100 times I've now moved on to my current favorite, Inn mr syngur vitleysingur.

Best wishes go out to Orri who had a massive headache turn into something worse during their second show in Mexico. And rumor is they will be at the Greek (in LA) on Oct. 2nd. I hope they play 2 nights as I...uh...will be at the Neil Diamond show at the Hollywood Bowl. If only they co-headlined with the Neil.

Damien Rice: 10 days to Barcelona

Damien Rice goes for a Radiohead Roadtrip...
"On June 1st 2008, myself and my friends Ryan (images) & Mia (navigation) set off on a last-minute road trip from Dublin to Barcelona, squished into my little ol' mini with a portable recording studio. The idea is to stop off along the way in random places where I have to write and record a new song every day, either in the mini or outdoors on a rock or something.

10 days = 10 songs = album Nuevo.

We hope to arrive in Barcelona on June 10th, or at least in time to go see Radiohead play on June 12th and then fly home for the Leonard Cohen dates. Yay! We're updating the website as we go... if we're anywhere near an internet connection that is!"

Man, that is the life. What i wouldn't give to be able to do that. I don't even need to be the popular musician...I'd be content being the guy behind the camera or even the friend/driver. A roadtrip in a mini from Dublin to Barcelona to see Radiohead?? Guess I need more creative friends...and to live in Europe. At least I now have the Mini.

Thom & Jonny play Portishead’s ‘The Rip’

Radiohead At Ease [In Rainbows] » Radiohead News Archive » Thom & Jonny play Portishead’s ‘The Rip’: "Radiohead have soundchecked Portishead’s ‘The Rip’ various times on the first leg of the North American tour in May, but the song from Portishead’s latest album never made it to the setlists."
Makes me happy to know that they like my favorite song on the new Portishead album too. Hope they play it live sometime...preferably in LA or NY.

James plays surprise L.A. show

Reunited James plays surprise L.A. show | Entertainment | Reuters: "Reunited British rock band James, who enjoyed cult success in America during the early '90s, played their first U.S. concert in Los Angeles on Friday since ending a lengthy hiatus last year.

The hourlong gig at Spaceland, a 260-capacity club near Hollywood, showcased a handful of tunes from James' new album 'Hey Ma,' including the anti-war title track."

I was lucky to grab a pair of tickets...great show. I only knew them from the great 90's song "Laid" and was really blown away by how good their other stuff was. They were definitely happy to be back on stage together.
